ABout us

Surf Lisbon is where ocean, lifestyle and community come together. Based in Lisbon, we combine professional, high-quality surf coaching with a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Whether it’s your first wave or you’re looking to refine your skills, our experienced team helps you progress safely and confidently.

Beyond the lessons, our Surf House offers a comfortable and social space to connect with like-minded people from around the world. Through our Surf Trips, we explore different waves and coastlines, creating unforgettable experiences both in and out of the water. More than a surf school, Surf Lisbon is a place to grow, share and truly connect with the sea.

Our competition students began competing in regional and national championships, marking the start of our performance surf pathway.

2010

First International Surf Trip to the Maldives — an unforgettable experience that ran for four consecutive years.

2012

Launch of our Surf Trip to Pipa, Brazil. It quickly became our most iconic and sought-after international trip, running annually ever since.

2021

Official partnership with Oeiras International School (OIS), becoming the school’s official Surf provider for After School Activities.

2022

Strong comeback of Surf tourism after the pandemic, marking a new phase of growth and international demand.

2023

First Surf Trip to São Jorge (Azores), in partnership with Centro Upaya, combining Surf, Yoga and Meditation in a retreat format.

2024

The SurfLisbon way

our philosophy

We believe good surf coaching starts with the fundamentals: how to read the waves, how to position yourself in the water, how to stay safe and relaxed in different conditions. Once those things click, progress comes naturally.

That’s why we keep our lessons focused, small, and adapted to each surfer. Some people stand up on their first wave. Others take a little longer. Both are completely fine.

What matters to us is that you leave the water feeling more confident than when you entered.

Over the years we’ve taught thousands of students, but the goal has always stayed the same: create surfers who feel comfortable in the ocean, not just for a day — but for life.

Our Community

We care

Our goal is simple: create an environment where everyone — guests, instructors, and staff — feels comfortable in and out of the water.

If you want to learn more about how we protect our community, you can check the following documents:

Code of conduct
Legal data, terms & conditions
Privacy policy
Cookies policy

We have zero tolerance for discrimination, harassment, or unsafe behaviour of any kind. Surfing should be inclusive, respectful, and enjoyable for everyone involved.

We’ll see you soon

Why Surfers Come Back

After 18 years, one of the things we’re most proud of is how many people return.

Some guests come back the following summer. Others visit again years later — sometimes bringing friends, partners, or even their kids who are learning to surf for the first time.

Maybe it’s the waves, the house by the ocean, or the atmosphere that forms when people from different places share the same experience in the water. Most likely, it’s a mix of all of it.

Surf Lisbon has grown a lot since the early days, but the feeling we try to create has stayed the same: a welcoming place where people can learn, improve, and enjoy the ocean together.
